The Henderson Writers Group will be accepting submissions for their 2010 Student Writing Contest from November 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009. All Clark County high school, undergrad college and home schooled students are eligible.

What to Submit:
One publication ready work of fiction or nonfiction of 4,000 words or less.

High School Student Awards:

1st Place Fiction: 1 (one) full Las Vegas Writers Conference Admission.
1st Place Nonfiction: 1 (one) full Las Vegas Writers Conference Admission
2nd Place Fiction: 1(one) Las Vegas Writers Conference Saturday only Admission
2nd Place Nonfiction: 1(one) Las Vegas Writers Conference Saturday only Admission

College Student Awards:

1st Place Fiction: 1(one) full Las Vegas Writers Conference Admission
1st Place Non Fiction: 1(one) full Las Vegas Writers Conference Admission
2nd Place Fiction: 1(one) Las Vegas Writers Conference Saturday Only Admission

Formatting Guidelines:

Manuscripts should follow standard submission format:
• 1 inch margins
• Double spaced Times New Roman or Courier New 12 point font
• Cover page with Type of work (fiction or nonfiction) Title of work, Authors Name, address,
phone No., High School or College Name, and word count.
• Work should include a Header with ONLY work title and page numbers
• NOTE* Home schooled students of High School or undergrad College age are eligible. Be sure and include contact information.

Selection Process:

Works will be judged on originality and clarity. The Henderson Writers Group 2010 Student Writing Contest will be blind judged. No member of the HWG will act as judge. Contest winners will be announced in April, 2010 at 6:30 PM at the Las Vegas Writers Conference. The winners will be notified prior to the conference.
